About the Artist
Jeff Tansey is a creative technologist, engineer and artist based in Texas.
Most of Jeff Tansey's artwork follow one simple rule: every piece is laid down as one continuous brushstroke, with one start and one end, that never leaves the canvas.
Within that rule the line is free to loop, cross itself, and run back alongside its own path — which is where the paintings get their texture, bands of parallel ridges built from a stroke doubling back on itself — but it always has to find its way home.
About the Process
No artificial intelligence is used at any stage of the creative process. This is not generative art.
Every composition begins on paper, then is redrawn onto a grid to plot each brushstroke — point by point, line by line — until the full path of the line is mapped before a single brush stroke is laid down.
To do this, Jeff Tansey has developed a set of proprietary tools, processes, and techniques of his own, built specifically to make this kind of painting possible.
